Better Late Than Later

Our 5th wheel RV has a Suburban hot water heater. There is an anode rod that needs to be replaced on a regular basis. The rod consists of a material that will attract minerals in the water want to settle onto the main tank walls, causing corrosion and eventual failure of the heating element or metal tank walls.

The photo shows the rod I replaced in the summer of 2020 and the one I took out of the water heater this week. Regularly means yearly. Needless to say I will be noting on the calendar when 365 days have past from the current installation. We only drink and cook with RO water as we can’t stand the taste of the tap water. Now we know why.
