This May not be Luckenbach, but It Sure is Texas

Driving down Texas Highway 90 today, which is about as much in the middle of nowhere as one can be. Mile after unrelenting mile of arid landscape unfolds along both side of the road. Then in the middle of all this nothingness what makes Texas, Texas suddenly flashes by. There is the myth of Texas and then there is the real Texas. And when you see a scene like this you realize they are one and the same. It is awesome to be back in the state we we call home.

Did I Mention it was Windy

windy

The wind we drove through yesterday kept up all night, and even with the jacks down on Sophie we could feel it. It was more of a moving back and forth motion than a rocking motion. We seldom are bothered by outside noise in Sophie but last night we could hear the wind howling quite easily. The photo shows a first ever for us in 16 years of living in our RVs. We have never had our sewer hose blow off the accordion sewer hose support until last night Actually the support might have even blown away except for the fact the sewer outlet end cap got caught in it. Good Golly Gee Whiz! When is person too old to have to put up with something like this? I know. They’re the ones in the retirement homes while those of us who don’t know how old we are, are busy living LIFE.

A Day of West Texas Wind

Dust

It was a day of two hands on the steering wheel and constantly correcting the drift to the left made worse by the constant wind gusts. The dry landscape of West Texas meant dust was in the air. Being dependent on my travel companion to take photos I’ll post what she took. For all I know she was maybe getting seasick from all the back and forth motion. Once she mentioned we should stop and rest for a while. I said no, that would just mean it would be later when I no longer had to fight the wind. At least tomorrow we are staying put. The really bad part was the weather forecast was for the same high winds as yesterday and we still traveled. Some days you should just stay in bed.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

Monitor

The advantage of owning a small RV made in Canada that is very well insulated. A 48 degree difference between the inside and outside temperature and the only heat is our small electric heater. Yet by noon the sun will be high in the sky and we will be sitting outside, I in the chair I repaired yesterday, wearing shorts and a tee shirt. It’s a tough way to live, but we do our best, lol.
