Not Another Two Skunk Night!!

Do we have two skunks or just one? Our cameras recorded a visit on the night of the 15th at approximately 2:20 (2:20 AM) and again at 5:05 (5:05 AM). My way of thinking is it’s one skunk making its nightly rounds. One of these mornings I’m going to get out of bed early ( I’m usually awake sometime between 3:30 and 4:00 (3:30 and 4:00 AM) and go out and sit on our patio, then maybe see Mr. , Mrs., Miss or Ms. skunk, hopefully avoiding any unpleasant skunk to human interchanges.

A Two Skunk Night

Living as close to the Mexican border as we do, we have multiple security cameras that we have set to record any motion at night around our property. This is NOT because we feel unsafe, rather it just to know what goes on after dark when we are settled into bed like two bugs in a rug, The below video is from one of our cameras focused on our garden area, the area featured in our recent “jungle” posts.

Salsa Time

Skillet roasting

Time to make some roasted salsa. That’s tomatoes, garlic, onion, poblano pepper and jalapeno pepper beginning to roast to a nice char.

Blender

All went into the blender, then salt, lime juice and fresh cilantro was added.

chip and dip

It’s a little bit of work, but the result is definitely worth it. And you know what makes it ever better? Putting that just made salsa into a Mexican bowl, dipping one of our homemade chips into it and knowing you just can’t buy something premade that is this good.

Being on Top of Things

RV roof

Yes, that is me on top of our other RV, the one we have parked on our RV lot. Seems that the air conditioners were not conditioning the air. Meaning it was really hot day and neither AC was cooling. For some reason my other half thought this to be a rather intolerable situation, so up on top I went to see what I likely couldn’t see. And yes, we turned the thermostat on and off, pulled the fuse and shut the breakers off, all to no avail. I wiggled what I could wiggle up there, then once again shut everything off. When we turned everything back on the rear air conditioner started working. Repairman Rob.

Ladder

Getting up and down from the roof isn’t as easy as it was in years gone by. My wife’s older sister had a saying, “Getting old is pigeon poop.” You know, she really did know what she was talking about. We miss you, Katherine.

More Rompope

Rompope

Two brands of Rompope available locally at our favorite liquor store.

labels

Different brands, but both “packed by” the same company. My guess is that “packed by” means bottled by, but I certainly could be wrong. They were also imported by the same importer. We haven’t tasted them yet, but hopefully they will be different since the color is not the same. (The one on the right in the top photo is slightly darker.)The glass bottles are identical with both having the word Coronado raised in the glass at the shoulder. Maybe I’ll have to report on how they compared, not only with each other but with the other two brands we bought. Right now the La Casita brand we bought in Mexico last year is the best by far.
